Next week Dr Groetken and her daughter Kara leave for Haiti to go on a mission trip that they volunteered for and the trip is hosted by a chapter of VOSH International. Dr Groetken is excited to be able to participate and looks forward to the experience.

VOSH is an organization of volunteer optometrists and health care workers whose purpose is to preserve eyesight and correct visual impairment.  VOSH provides free eye care in deprived countries by holding short term missions and supporting new schools of optometry in developing countries.  VOSH strives to build relationships with local doctors and people which we hope, with the help of other organizations, can lead to a sustainable eye clinic.

VOSH asks for …”your support to help pay for eyeglasses, surgical care costs and equipment purchases and repairs for use on our missions.  Our volunteers pay the full cost of their trip.  This usually ranges from about $1400 to $2000, but the reward of helping someone who has no means to repay you…..is PRICELESS!  No money donated to VOSH PA is used for the personal use of our volunteers.  It all goes for the above mentioned use.”
